April sees the real start to the Cross Country season and already members have had school cross country and district events. If you have qualified for School Regionals or you want to improve your fitness, take advantage of the many cross country events that are on around Brisbane. Most weeks both Queensland Athletics ( and Queensland Running have races on. You don't have to be a member, but for QA races the fee is often double if you are not. Don't worry about how fast you are, just do it for your own personal gain. Queensland Running events cater for a big range of running abilities and everyone should feel they've achieved something by completing a race. Distances range from 800m to 8000m.
On Saturday 5th May at St Paul's School in Bald hills Qld Running and Qld Athletics combine to host the annual Queensland All Schools Cross Country Championships and the Qld Short Course Cross Country Championships. This event attracts large numbers and you can enter online now through the QA website.

Brown-Bonwick Memorial
On the 26th May TEES will be hosting the Brown-Bonwick Memorial Cross Country event at Minnippi Parklands. This is one of our fundraising events for the year and we would appreciate as many helpers, runners and supporters as possible coming along. It is a handicap event for some races, so everyone has a chance of a prize.

We need helpers to mark out the course, help with taking nominations, work on the BBQ, act as marshalls and give out the drinks to the thirsty runners. Every year TEES gives $200. to it's athletes if they have to travel away for approved National events. But this is only if the athlete or their family has helped out on fundraising events, and of course if we have the funds! Fundraising also helps to provide much needed equipment for the club.

These were held last Saturday on a beautiful but hot afternoon. TEES fielded 4 teams this year as many of our members ran for school teams or were away. Our 4 teams all ran wonderfully and supported one another well. The Masters Men - Greg Coulter, Dean Comber and John Crook gained a silver in the 3X4000m race, Kyle Noronha, Samantha Whitting and Kurt Frampton won the U14 boy's 3x 3000m club race and Rhiannah Keuning, Nicole Swan and Katrina Robinson came 2nd in the U14 Girl's 3x3000m club race.
