Happy Easter.
The last track session on the QA calendar in Brisbane has been held and the cross country season is beginning. We would like as many people as possible to wear the Thompson Estate Athletics uniform and get running in the cross country events. Don't worry about how fast you can run, just give it a go! Every time you run for Thompson Estate you earn points which are counted when the annual prize-giving is held. Parents, if your kids are running, maybe you could consider joining and running for TEES as well.
The first run is next Saturday at Minnippi Parklands. This is a club event, not a Queensland Athletics event and is open to everybody. Events are 1km, 2km, 3km, 4km and 6km. You can register online(without paying) beforehand. This will help us to work out numbers and speed up entries on the day. TEES is hosting this event and we need helpers with marshalling, BBQ, taking registrations and general helpers. Please email admin@thompsonestateathletics or phone Eddie on 0411 591 511, or Rosalie on 33981016 if you can help. If the rain holds off it should be a good afternoon.
The next big event for the club is the QA Cross Country Relays. This year they are being held on Saturday 20th April at John Paul College. If you are 5 years of age or older, and a member of Thompson Estate Athletics, we may be able to get you into a TEES relay team. Please email if you would like to be in a relay. I know quite a few of the school age runners may be entered into a school team, as they run on the same day. If you are a Masters athlete, then please send Dean an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. He is putting together a number of Masters Teams. You must run in a Thompson Estate top if representing the club. Let us know if you need a singlet, shorts or crop top. The club pays for entry into this event.
The Carina Canter will be held on Sunday 14th at 8am. Hopefully it won't be rained out like last month.  Please register in advance to save time on the day.
The QA All Schools Cross Country Championships returns to its 'home base', Kedron High School, on 4 May and will act as a selection trial for the Australian Cross Country Championships. Queensland Running are also having their Cross Country Champs on the same day at a different venue. Please do not get these events confused.

Good Luck to Samantha Whitting, Michael Criticos and Hannah Schlecht in their upcoming national events. Samantha is off this week to compete in the Triathlon Championships, Hannah will be competing in Canberra with the Queensland U15 Little Athletics State Team and Michael is competing at the Australian Open Championships. Well done to Jacob, Katrina, Hannah and Michael who represented Queensland in Perth at the Junior National Athletics Champs. Jacob came 3rd in the U14 1500m and 4th in the 800m. Katrina placed 2nd in the U15 3000m, only beaten by a girl a year older and 5th in the 1500m the next night. Michael competed up an age group in the javelin, discus and shot put and threw a huge PB  in the javelin.
The State Little Athletics Champs were held last weekend with some great results for our members. Jordan Kingdon ran in his first State Championships and gained a bronze in the U9800m race. Ethan Clinckett also ran in that race and gained a silver. Well done boys! Christabel Kingdon placed 4th in a tough U12 800m race and did a PB in the High Jump. Camelia Menzies placed 4th   in the U13 15000m and 6th  in the 800m. Hannah produced amazing results winning the U15s 200m, 400m and the pentathlon.
The Intraining Twilight Run was held last Sunday and several TEES runners took part, and fortunately were not  impacted  by the storm which hit the event after the 10km and half marathon had started. Katrina came 2nd in the overall female category in the 5km run, which had over 1000 runners. Camelia came straight from her 800m final at Little Athletics and placed  8th female overall in the 5km race. Greg Coulter and John Crook ran the 10km along with 2000 others and came in just before the storm started with Greg getting 4th in his age category and John 7th.
Thanks to those parents and kids who helped at the BBQ fundraiser at Bunnings.  It was a very successful event.
Training Join TEES and get running, and throws training for free. It's a great opportunity. You can just join for $30. pa., but if you are interested in any cross country events it is worth taking out the new Gold membership QA are bringing in. This will cost $50. for the QA fee and another $10. for the TEES fee, and you get free entry to all the Queensland Athletics cross country events which are usually $10. Queensland Athletics hope to have them  available on their website on Tuesday. Check their calendar out for events to see if this may suit you. Those of you who have already taken out Out of Stadia membership for the Cross Country season, it seems like you have a bad deal as you still have to pay to enter these same events. TEES will ask QA to reconsider this as information about the Gold Membership was not available at the start of this season.
The AGM was held last week. Details of the new committee will be on our website soon as will the 2012 prizewinners. The position of secretary has still not been filled. This does not take up much time. If you think you have the time to spare please let us know.
