THOMPSON ESTATE EASTERN SUBURBS ATHLETICS - June 2013 NewsletterCross Country
The shortest day is nearly here, and the cross country season nearly over! We do however still have 3 more QA Cross Country runs.
-The next is on June 22nd at Rivermount College. This is the final of the QA Cross Country Cup series. Our club has won medals at each of these events. Last week we won the U12 boy's team event, the U14 girls' team event, 2nd in the master's 35 plus team, 1st and 3rd in the Masters 50+ team. In the medium distance individual championships, Anne Ryan placed 1st in the Masters 55-59 age group and Marcia Sheer placed 2nd ! Well done!
On July 13th QA is holding a Cross Country meet at Minnippi Parklands which TEES has been asked to host. We will be looking for some helpers for this event. Some primary members have their State Champs the day after, but you are all welcome to come along and lend a hand!
Then, the last Cross Country event for QA is their Cross Country Champs at Carseldine on the 3rd August. We would like all TEES members that think they can run the distance to have a go at this event. Individual and Team medals are up for grabs. For those runners aged 12 and over, this is an opportunity to gain entry to the Qld Heat Team that will be running in the Australia Cross Country Champs in Tasmania in late August.
Track and Field
If Cross Country is not for you, then QA are holding a series of Winter Track and Field meets, as are the University of Queensland. See the QA website for details

They are Jordan Kingdon, Shellbee Welsh, Torryn Squires, Ellie Ryan, Shatalii Mooney-Stack, Erika Gage, Christabel Kingdon, Tahlia Fletcher, Samantha Whitting, Katrina Robinson, Rhannah Keuning, Jacob Bragg, Callum Davies, Luke Kingdon and Camellia Menzies. The Primary States will be held at Limestone Park in Ipswich on July 14th. It will be a good day out if you want to go and support our young runners. The secondary students are racing the following weekend in Bundaberg.
On June 30th TEES will be holding a BBQ at the Masters Store in Tingalpa. We would appreciate willing helpers coming along for a couple of hours (or more if you like!) For those athletes who are likely to be going to Tasmania for Cross Country, by helping here TEES will award you $200. for your trip. It can be a fun few hours and a good way of supporting your club. Please phone Eddie on 0411 591 511 or Rosalie on 33981016 or email admin@thompsonestateathletics.
com.au if you can help.
Thanks to all those who came along to the BBQ at Crackerjack Carnival. The weather was much kinder to us than last year, and we had steady business throughout the weekend.
If you're feeling you could do with a bit more exercise, or have goals you want to make in the Bridge to Brisbane, school sports or any other event, you might want to consider coming along to any of the training sessions on offer. Running or throwing - we have the coaching for you, Hopefully next year we can include jumps and hurdles!
