Congratulations to all our athletes who competed at their State Championships for track and field last month. Among the highlights were 11 year old Ellie Ryan (photo below) coming 2nd in the 800m. Ellie will be progressing to the national champs being held in Brisbane later this month. Shatalli Mooney-Stack came 4th in this race in a great time and just missing out by a fraction of a second a place in the State Team! Torryn Squires came 6th in the State in the 10 year old girls' 800 race and in the 12 year girls' race, Christabel Kingdon achieved her goal of making the final and getting a PB.  Shellbee Welsh cam 8th in the 10 year girls tetrathlon as well as running in the 800m. Congratulations to 15 year old Hannah Schlecht who has been selected to run in the Secondary State Champs in Townsville next month in the 100m, 200m and 2 relays. She is also part of the winning Brisbane State High School Team to compete at School Knockouts in Townsville in the Intermediate Division . Thwane Fouche came 4th in the finals of the girls 1500m and 11th in the 3000m. Samantha Wilson placed 3rd in the 14 year girls 400m and 3rd in the long jump. Samantha will also be travelling to Townsville for the School Knockouts as her Moreton Bay school team won the Qld Junior Division. Great racing girls!

Meanwhile in the USA Anne and Sean Ryan have been competing at the World Masters Athletics Games in Brazil. Anne placed 5th in the finals of the 800m in her age group and won the silver medal in the 5000m. Her 4X400m Australian relay team won bronze. Sean Ryan placed 7th in the over 65 age group of the 800m in an impressive time of 2.37 then qualified for the finals of the 1500m and placed 13th.

At last week's UQ 1500m Classic event several TEES members ran. Good on you all for having a go. A big PB for Ben Ford in the Open Division running 4.06.

It is good to see that some TEES masters athletes have been competing in the Queensland Masters Association track relays. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

TEES member Nicole Swan, as well as being an excellent runner has had an amazing year of success at her swimming. At the recent Swimming Australia Championships, Nicole won 3 individual gold medals in butterfly and 2 relay medals.


If you haven't already renewed your membership, it is now due. Fees range from $20 pa to $230. pa. There are some good deals available. Check the categories out on the Queensland Athletics website. Remember that being a club member gets you free coaching for runs and throws.

Queensland Athletics Relay Champs

These are being held on the 14th December at QSAC at Nathan.. The club pays for entry into these relays and if you are 12 years or older and interested in taking part please The details are not yet up on the QA website, but for the runs the different relays suit both sprinters and middle distance runners.

Carina Canter & Xmas Party

The next Carina Canter will be held on Sunday 15th December at 8:00 AM. We would like to see as many TEES members and friends as possible at this event. If you can't run it then just come along to support the event and join in the fun. The distances are 2km and 4km, all abilities are encouraged to run. Afterwards we will have a special breakfast and Xmas celebration.

Carina Leagues Club held their annual Good Sports Award last month. Our Masters over 50+ cross country group of John Sheer, Ian Eckersly, Greg Coulter, Jason Collie and Kevin Christison won the team award for TEES, Kevin Christison won coach of the year and Dean Comber collected the Club person of the year award (photo below). Well deserved wins!
