AGM and Prizegiving
This will be held on Monday 31st March at our clubrooms. The AGM will be at 6.30pm followed by the prizegiving and pizza and drinks at 7pm. We would love to have as many members as possible there. Those of you who go to Kevin Christison's session could do the running first, then come in for some food and the prizegiving. Please RSVP to admin@thompsonestateathletics.
February sees a few big events on the calendar. Many of you will have attended Regional Little Athletics Carnivals. Let us know how you went, and send us photos of you competing. I hope you all had fun and maybe got some PBs. If you have made it to the State Championships, once again, let us know.
The State Triathlon and Aquathlon Champs are being held next weekend and a number of our members have qualified for this.
The Queensland Athletics Junior Championships are being held at Qld State Athletics Facility later this month. This is a big event on the QA calendar, and offers athletes the chance to proceed to the National championships in Sydney next Month. If you wish to watch any of these events, check the Qld Athletics website for details.
Relays. The QA Distance Medley Relay championships will be held on Saturday 29th March before the Queensland Track Classic. Times are not yet available. They had been going to be held last December, but were postponed because of bad weather. If you are 12 this year or older, and a club member you are elligible to compete, the club pays the fees. The relay is made up of 4 distances - 1200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m. If you think you would like to take part in this event let us know.
This Saturday TEES is putting in 3 teams in the 4 X 800m relay event at the Queensland Masters Competion being held at QE2. Dean Comber is organising this and will be putting in more teams on the 22/2/2014 in the QMA(Qld Masters Association) 4 X 1500m relay. If you are interested in competing in these events contact Dean at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Well done to those of you who have been competing at the QA events. The SE Qld Regional Cup (meeting 1), was held last month. TEES is a member of the South Brisbane Region along with 4 other clubs. There are 5 regions all together, and 2 members from each region are chosen to compete in each event in their age category. Brisbane South won the first competition and TEES had 6 members chosen to compete, and contributed many points to their region. This is a great effort from a small club. The members chosen were: Thwane Fouche, Ellie Ryan, Michael Criticos, Katrina Robinson, Amanda Rose and Hannah Schlecht.

The Qld Athletics Open 3000m Championships were held last month and TEES had several runners competing. Katrina Robinson came 3rd in the Open Division. As she is only 13 still it was an excellent result.
On the 16th March at 10am there will be a cleanout of our clubrooms. Refreshments provided to all helpers! We will be disposing of some items and they may be of interest to members and friends. One is an old massage table. If you are interested in one contact admin@thompsonestateathletics.
This is a 5km run held every Saturday morning at 7am. It starts by the Meadowlands Road entrance. It is part of the world wide Parkrun organisation and is proving extremely popular. Entry is free. TEES has been supporting this event since it started at Minnippi last November and last Saturday 6 of our members acted as pace-runners for the event. From the feedback we have received, you were all very much appreciated. Steve Barraclough is regularly called upon to do the pre-race warm-up. If you do this race please put your club down as Thompson Estate. Their website is http://www.parkrun.com.au/
minnippi/ and if you go to their news section or Facebook page you will see many photos of TEES runners.
The cross country season will start in April. For those of you wanting to compete in QA cross country events, make sure you are registered for the season. If you take out Gold Membership this gives you free entry to all QA cross country events(not club events). TEES will be having their annual club run(discount to members), at Minnippi Parklands on April 5th. Details coming soon. We will be looking for helpers for this event.
Remember if you compete at a recognised national event TEES will help you financially with the trip if you or your family have helped at 1 or 2 events(depending on time), and represented TEES at 2 or more QA events. For questions about this contact admin@thompsonestateathletics.
