Well done to Ellen Christison and Christabel Kingdon for being selected in the Queensland Heat Team that will compete in the Australian Cross Country Champs in Albany, WA in 2 weeks. They will join Ellie, Callum and Thwane who are also competing there in the school teams. Luke Kingdon and Erika Gage are reserves and Luke Harvey and Katrina Robinson both qualified for the team, but are not going. Go TEES.
TEES first (118 points), University of Qld second (99 points) and Athletics North 3rd (90 points). TEES have won the Queensland Athletics 2014 Cross Country Cup series. Thanks to everyone that has run or supported TEES in the 2014 events. Thanks also to QA and QA volunteers for organising today’s event.

I joined TEES on June 11 of this year, every parkrun I've done since (4) I've run a PB, I'm still pretty slow but I am improving every week. Thank you very much Steve and Kevin for your training, it's done wonders.

The TEES runners who competed at the Queensland School Cross Country Champs are now back from Toowoomba with some great results. Luke Harvey came 3rd in the 14 year boys' race with a great race. Katrina Robinson came first in the 14 year girls' race, leading all the way of the 4km course. Thwane Fouche and Callum Davies were both named as reserves for the Queensland team, and have now been included in the team!
Well done to Ellie Ryan who came first in the 12 year girls' State Cross Country Championships last Friday. It was very windy, so made the run extra difficult! She will now be going to Albany, WA, next month to compete in the National Champs. Gabby was 8th in the same race, just missing out on making the state team. Well done girls.
Congratulations to Michael Criticos, long time TEES member, who is off to a scholarship position at the university of Memphis, USA. He will be studying teaching and will mainly be competing in the javelin.

Good luck to the TEES athletes, Bailey, Angus, Shellbee, Ellie, Shatalii, Gabby, Amy and Sophia competing at the Queensland Primary School Cross Country Championships at Daisy Hill on Friday. It is meant to be cold and windy, so keep nice and warm before the race.
Congratulations to Adam Buchhorn who came 2nd in Queensland Athletics Road Walking Championships in the U12 division.

If, like me, you ran the QA cross country yesterday and are wondering why your legs are sore, have a look at this elevation profile of the first half of the Masters run. After 3km of hilly running, there was a 200m vertical climb in just 1km. That's a bit extreme.

TEES first (168 points), Athletics North second (76 points) and Ashgrove Rangers 3rd (56 points). This means that TEES have won the Queensland Athletics 2014 Cross Country Cup series. Once again TEES showed a very broad base in scoring highly in Junior, Open and Masters categories. Thanks to everyone that has run or supported TEES in the 2014 events. Thanks also to Ashgrove Rangers, QA and QA volunteers for organising today’s event.

Photos from Qld Cross Country Cup event #3 today. Results are already up but not the team scores - my unofficial tally of points puts TEES first, Athletics North second and QE2 Track club third. If correct, this would put TEES 9 points ahead on the series leader board. Thanks to everyone that came along to run or support the athletes.

Hi all,
I always get a bit excited on Wednesday knowing I'm gonna see you all tomorrow.
There is no "faking" fitness, or the pursuit of it. Particularly when the aim is to achieve a higher level of stamina, the stuff that makes us hang in there longer without showing significant signs of fatigue (until afterwards of course).
There's nothing like the feeling of satisfaction from knowing you've "given it everything".
As a club, & also as individuals I'm very proud to be associated with each & everyone of you.
This weekend we have the Qld Athletics Cross country at John Paul College, checkout the link below.

Hi all,

When I woke early this morning I thought we were going to have a wet Minnippi Parkrun, but I was wrong (not unusual for me). We were treated to a crispness in the air which was very refreshing & great for running.

You guys really did us proud with a fantastic turnout from Thompson Estate,19 in all which made a total of just over 12% of full attendance figure of 149.

We had 8 PB's & a few near misses, we can work on this a Training getting the most out of the last few 100 metres.

PB's as follows:-

Bailey Ford

Andre Fouche

James Lehmann

Peter Taylor

Chris Barnes

Craig Marlow

Michelle Howse

Yasmin Barraclough

Well Done to all !!!

Could I please remind Members to add Thompson Estate to your Minnippi Parkrun profile as it makes it much easier for me to spot when making this report. Easiest way is to update your profile through the link on the email you will receive from Minnippi Parkrun with your results.

Hope to see you at training & get your entries in for next Saturdays Cross country.
Hi all,

Thanks for putting in such a great effort a yesterdays evening training session. Hoping to see good numbers at Minnippi Parkrun tomorrow.

All these runs build great stamina & learning how to use different strategies, breathing, pace etc. & most importantly correct running technique.

Also great to get yourself ready for the John Paul College Cross country the following weekend. use this link.

Hope to see you all tomorrow morning at Minnippi
Hi all,

Hopefully by now you've all been able to look at the great photo's from last weekend. There was a sea of Red, White & Blue at Yeronga which impressed so many people, including the QA officials that work so hard to bring us these fantastic events & also members of other clubs & organisations.
There maybe other clubs with faster runners but we have the strongest following, which is reflected by the present point score.

As we commit to ongoing Training & personal improvement, we can be proud to be members of Thompson Estate Athletics. I'm sure you've all realised by now there is an age group & competition level for everybody.
We want to include everyone we can, as being involved in events gives training more purpose.
The high quality graphs provided by Dean Comber for the Opens & Masters help to show us where we can improve as Dean has a very high level of experience in correct pacing.

Hope to see you all at Training Tomorrow.

Steve Barraclough.
Thanks to Jean Hampson for taking these photos on Saturday.

Hi all,

Well its definitely been a busy day for TEES, the day seems to have been filled with Red, White & Blue wherever I looked!!!

I was really proud to see so many people being Volunteers at Minnippi. Bastien, Jean & John were supporting this local running community, Great Work Guys!!!

We had 6 TEES runners at Minnippi today, this is a great number taking into consideration that so many others were saving themselves for the Yeronga XC this afternoon.

We had 3 PB's as follows,

Chris Barnes
Peter Taylor (good to see ya mate!)
Dawn Cameron

Well Done Guys!!!

Hope to see everyone at training next week, your perseverance is definitely creating positive results every week,

If your on Facebook, look up Thompson estate Athletics & "like" it, there's some great info & photo's etc. Enjoy the Loooooooong Weeeeekeeend
A record number (in the 21st century) of Thompson Estate (aka TEES) athletes competed in the Yeronga Queensland Cup Event #2 today. All athletes contributed to our point score today, which was an overall TEES win for the 2nd event in a row; extending TEES' lead on the Queensland Cup Leader Board. TEES won, Athletics North were second and QE2 Track Club were third today. So a big thank you to all athletes, every one of you contributed points to the victory. Also, thank you to the organisers today - Toowong Harriers, Athletics North, Ashgrove Rangers, QA volunteers and QA. It was an excellent challenging course and a well organised event. Everyone had fun - which is the main thing!

Hi all,

1st of all I'd like to acknowledge all the great work the people at Minnippi Parkrun do for the running community in our area, Thanks Guys.

Also I'd like to make a correction to last weeks TEES Minnippi Parkrun results, We actually had 10 PB's as Arthur De Silva also again managed to achieve another PB that was not registered due to a scanning error, Good Work Arthur !!!

This Saturday is the Qld Athletics Cross Country at Yeronga, Please consider doing this event as it is a very interesting course I know your all very capable of attacking with Gusto. Checkout the Qld Athletics website for details, qldathletics.org.au

Hi all,

Sorry I had to leave early today, Brisbane ballet eisteddfod waits for nobody Looks like I missed a cracker of a week for outstanding results, PB's galore!!!

I was again asked about training in the short time I was there, probably because of the way the Thompson Estate runners (yes, you outstanding lot) go flying past so many runners you could only see in the distance previously.

In total we had 19 runners which gave us a new calculated percentage of 13.5% total field, pretty good hey !!!

What about all the Pb's, we had 9 in total which is almost Half of our total attending runners. Here they are:-

Campbell Willis

Bastien Vincent (WOW)

Josh Finnegan

Steve Scanlan

John Roache

Adam Finnegan

Helica Campbell

Kayti Marlow

Heather Windle

These Pb's also show us all we have built up a great deal of stamina & speed which will directly effect our results for next weekends QA Cross Country at Yeronga. This is a really good XC course & shouldn't be missed.

Well done today, have a great weekend. Hope to see you all at training next week.

PS, gonna see new X Men movie this arvo  - - - - -

Good news from out west. Sophia McIntosh came first in the Metwest 11 year girls' cross country trials on Tuesday, and Amy Riethmuller cam 4th. So both of these girls will be joining the other TEES runners at the Primary Queensland Schools Cross Country Champs in July. Meanwhile on the north side, Tahlia Fletcher came 4th in the 13 year girls' race in the Metnorth trials, and so has qualified for the Secondary School Champs in Toowoomba in July. This means 14 TEES runners will be competing at the the Championships!
See you at training tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:00 PM. Stanley Rd, Carina.
Congratulations to the following TEES athletes who have qualified for the Queensland Schools Cross Country Champs to be held in July: They qualified by competing at the Meteast Trials last week.
Bailey Ford who came first in the 11 year boys.
Shellbee Welsh, 2nd in 11 year girls.
Ellie Ryan, 1st in 12 year girls. Gabby Williams-Scudamore 2nd in 12 year girls and Shatalii Mooney- Stack 3rd in 12 year girls.
In the 13 year girls Christabel Kingdon came 3rd and Erika Gage came 5th.
In the 14 year boys, Luke Harvey came 5th.
Thwane Fouche qualified in the 15 year girls by coming 6th and Callum Davies qualified in the 15 year boys by coming 4th.
They will be joined by Katrina Robinson, who was sick for the trials, but has qualified because of her previous results.
We may still have more members qualifying after the Metnorth and Metwest trials today! Fantastic results.

Thompson Estate is in first place on the 2014 Queensland Cross Country Cup leader board. Thanks to everyone who competed on Saturday, contributing to the resounding win. There are 3 races to go, next one is at Yeronga on 7 June.
