Some great results were recorded this weekend, with young indigenous sprinter, 16yr old Yarnell Fisher breaking his personal best performance twice this weekend in the 200m U18 Track & Field State Championship hosted at QE2 this weekend. The speedster recorded 23.3 in his heat personal best in -2 headwind then back this up with 23.13 in the finals against tremendous headwinds causing havoc at the track, which placed him 4th overall in the state against some stiff competition with names such as Michael Fenwick 2008 National All Schools medalist who placed 6th in the final.
It will be interesting to see how fast the youngster can go over the off season winter preparation for All Schools in October 2009.
Young National Bronze All Schools Medalist, 15yrs Michael Criticos, stepped up to the plate to compete against the states best javelin throwers in U18 category, with a great start to 2009 a distance 41.36m for the young javelin thrower which placed him 5th overall, not a bad go at it considering the age category the young gun played the field in.
Well done boys.. we certainly look forward to your results at the end of the year.
